Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do you offer lessons in a continuous format?

A: The continuous approach has proven to advance swim skills at a faster pace then the session based lessons, largely due to the fact that children in continuous lessons learn and retain skills faster than children who have breaks between session. Continuous swim lessons also provide a consistent day and time for your lesson. You no longer need to register every four or eight weeks, or worry about which class your child will be assigned. Once you’ve selected your day and time, you keep this schedule until you choose to make a change.

Q: When can I sign up for lessons?

A: Anytime! Once the season starts, you can start up at any time. Your child will need to do an evaluation for level placement, we will then schedule and register your child. It’s that easy!

Q: What level should my child be in?

A: A quick evaluation will answer this question. We offer free evaluations throughout the season free of charge. The evaluation process takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and generally takes place during the week. Please call our office for more information 949.388.4545.

Q: How do I register for lessons?

A: After your initial evaluation, we will schedule and register you on the spot. Most of our families will start lessons the week after the evaluation. To speed up the registration process, please download and fill out the registration forms found on the right column of our website.

Q: How do I withdraw from lessons?

A: To withdraw from lessons, please call our office 949.388.4545 or send us an e-mail,info@aquatenswimschool.com, stating that you would like to withdraw your child from lessons, make sure it’s at least 15 days notice.

Q: How do I pay for lessons?

A: Evolution Swim Academy accepts the following major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover. We bill on the 1st of each month and will bill a pro-rated amount for the first month if necessary.

Q: How much do lessons cost?

A: We offer private, semi-private and group lessons. We offer monthly rates and the prices quoted are one time per week:

  • Private lessons: $140.00/month. Keep in mind that these lessons are 1:1 ratio (student/instructor).
  • Semi-Private lessons: $100.00/month. These lessons are 2:1 ratio and the only time we require a semi-private lesson is for our Starfish 1 students. After this level, we recommend small group (3:1 ratio).
  • Group lessons: $88.00/month. These lessons are designed for a 3:1 student/instructor ratio.

Q: What if I want my child to take lessons two times per week?

A: If you prefer your child take lessons two times per week, we have you covered (for less). If you enroll in two lessons per week, the second lesson in the week is discounted at 25%.

Q: Do you offer multiple children discount?

A: The first child pays regular price for the first lesson and 25% off the second lesson in the week. The second child receives a 5% discount for the first lesson and 25% for the second lesson in the week (based off normal rate). The third child receives a 10% discount for the first lesson and 25% for the second lesson in the week (based on normal rate).

Q: How do I change my day/time?

A: We understand that your personal schedule might change as the seasons change. To change your schedule, give us a call at 949.388.4545 and we will work with you to make sure you’re accommodated.

Q: What if I join in the middle of the month?

A: You will pay a pro-rated amount for swim lessons remaining in the month that you initially sign up for.

Q: Do you offer make-up classes?

A: Yes we do! We know that schedules get hectic and we want to help. We schedule make up lessons 1 week at a time. Please call our office 949.388.4545 for more information.

Q: Can you guarantee “my favorite” instructor?

A: I wish this could be possible, but it’s not! We do everything that we can to make sure that you are happy with your instructor. In most cases, we will do what we can to make sure you get your first choice of instructor but this is not always guaranteed. What we do guarantee is that we will do what’s in your child’s best interest!

Q: What holidays do you observe?

A: We observe the following holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s.  We will not be performing lessons on those days.

Q: Do you cancel lessons due to inclement weather?

A: Yes, but only if there is thunder and lightning.  We will cancel lessons by 9:00AM when we believe that there is more then a 50/50 chance of inclement weather that may prohibit us from safely carrying out our lessons.

Q: Do you sell goggles?

A: Yes we do! We sell the best goggles available for students in a swim school. The Costco brand of swim goggle is nice and inexpensive, but they also leak more times then not. Please leave those for the backyard fun and buy into the swim lesson caliber goggles.  Our deck supervisors will sell goggles and swim caps and you can charge them to your account.

Q: Why should students wear swim caps?

A: We are a swim school and want to make sure that students get the most from lessons. When the hair gets in their eyes it tends to become a huge distraction! Swim caps come in pink and black.

Q: Are the pools heated?

A: We make sure to keep our pools heated to 84 degrees year round.
